THE ACADEMY
More Than Me Academy is an all-girls, tuition-free private school established to provide Education, Safety, and Health services for young girls in West Point and surrounding communities in Monrovia. Hilltop Schools assumed management of the Academy in June 2019. The students are selected based on need and are often girls who might not have the opportunity to attend school otherwise. At the Academy students are provided two meals daily (breakfast and lunch), quality education, basic health care, health insurance, access to psycho-social services, a safe space social work office, and many other enrichment and empowerment programs. Our students learn confidence and the skills they need to succeed as leaders in their communities and the country. They have been commended by the Vice President of Liberia as some of the most resilient and courageous young women she has met.

Aquaponics Programs
Hilltop Schools proudly offers an innovative Aquaponics program designed to immerse students in the science of aquaculture and hydroponics, providing them with hands-on experience in sustainable food production. This unique initiative not only equips students with practical skills but also directly supports the school’s commitment to nourishing its students. By cultivating fresh produce and fish, the program supports the cafeteria to serve nutritious meals daily allowing students to thrive academically and physically. This approach emphasizes the importance of healthy eating and environmental stewardship, fostering a culture of sustainability within the school community.
In addition to promoting healthy eating habits, the Aquaponics program serves as a dynamic learning platform where students can apply key concepts from math, chemistry, biology, and the arts. Through the construction and management of the aquaponics system, students engage in critical thinking and problem-solving, enhancing their understanding of these subjects in a real-world context. This interdisciplinary approach not only enriches their educational experience but also cultivates a sense of responsibility and teamwork as they work together to maintain the system.
